Hi:

I'm having an all-of-a-sudden type problem with the 10/100 built in ethernet adapter on my g4/800 Ibook. The 10.3.1 Network status monitor shows that "Ethernet cable is not plugged in". I've tried the following:

*Swapping cables
*pinged 127.0.0.1 (local loopback; got replies from ping)
*plugged the Ibook into a small Linksys hub (the lights did not go on on the hub.
*zapped PRAM
*Reset PMU
*repaired disk permissions
*ran fsck

Obviously the port is shot-I did not run the Apple Hardware test CD as of yet. (at work, CD is at home). Is there ANYthing I else I can try before calling Apple support? I'd like to avoid the 7-10 day laptoplessness than sending it in would cause.

P.S. I'm pulling the ad for this laptop until this is repaired.

Had to force 100/full duplex manually in ethernet settings, now can connect at work. Suspect clean install of Panther will fix this.
