This may be a simple one. I've managed to connect successfully to our company's Windows network and I'm able to browse the network etc. I have a windows workstation next to me to confirm that my machine is displayed correctly on the network. I can see it's entry when I browse on "Microsoft Windows Network"-->"Entire Network". However, next to my computer name in the comments column under Windows Explorer, is the comment "Mac OS X".

I'd like to know where in Panther I can change it since I'd rather not draw attention to myself .

BTW. I'm running Panther 10.3.1 on a PB 17" 1Ghz with 1GB of ram.

Thanks in advance

I'm a little rusty with SAMBA, but if you edit /etc/smb.conf there is a server string = variable under the global variables section that is set to "Mac OS X" by default. You might try editing this variable to whatever suits you and see if that changes your listing in Network Neighborhood.
