is it possible to connect 2 computers using wireless card without a router?

situation: me and my friend are travelling on a plane (just imagine ok? ha), and we want to connect 2 computers to play network games... is it possible? assume that we both have wireless card.
I did it on a train before and my friend said we could do this because there was a router some where... ?????????????? true? false????

no, i believe the computer to computer network is called "ad hoc" or peer to peer. you don't need a router.

You may find yourselves in some hot water; FAA regulations forbid the use of wireless devices inflight. There's been a lot of discussion about whether using such devices really affects the operations of the aircraft, but it's still against FAA regulations-and nowadays such a violation can be interpreted as "interfering with the operation of the aircraft," which can get you a very long, unpleasant stay with Homeland Security folks.
In other words, play your games in the departure lounge, but not in the aircraft.

I guess I didn't come out and say it, but yes, you should be able to connect two wireless computers directly via wireless. You need to choose an ad hoc network structure, and I really don't know how to do that-can't recall whether it's in Setup Assistant or Admin Utility, where it would be in the software, etc.
