I'm expecting my dsl modem Monday an will want to add a router as soon as I'm sure the service is working properly. For now I'll be connecting with a 17" iMac which will be hardwired to the modem/router. From the cost perspective, wireless looks to be a bargain - but I'm not sure about how the performance of wireless units compares with direct connect units

Is there any reason why a wireless router [DI-624] would perform any differently in terms of data rate and reliability compared to the corresponding "hardwire" model [DI-604] when hard-wired to a single computer.

Security: does the DI-624 broadcast in default mode and is there a way to turn off broadcasting when limited to connection via Ethernet cable?

Many thanks.....M
