I have sitting on my desk a new linksys WRT54G wifi router. yay! I am perplexed regarding one thing though... the linksys support site lists three different routers under that model number: 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0. the one I have is a 1.1. even though it was just bought the other day.

does anyone here know the difference between the three versions? I don't think it's the firmware version, since it's actually hard printed on the router next to the serial number. I've combed the linksys site to no avail.

should I take back this older version and get for a 2.0?

also, I've got an older G3 pismo which isn't airport ready... are there any non-apple wifi cards that you would recommend using with it?

There is a hardware difference between the 1.1 and 2.0 versions. The most current version of firmware for the 1.1 is version 1.42.3; if your router is marked with an earlier version, you should probably go to Linksys' site and see what changes have been made since the version you got.

Since the version 1.1 was not recalled, I wouldn't worry about needing to get the version 2.0. It is just built with different internals and should do exactly the same thing. If it worries you, go back to the store with it and ask them to find you a 2.0 if they can.

I really can't help you on WiFi cards for a Pismo, though-that's completely out of my experience.
