I didn't know whether to put this in peripherals or networking so I just put it here and hoped for the best. Anyways I have a strange problem that no one else seemed to have come accross on this forum. I have one mac ibook g4 running panther and 3 pcs on a network and one of the pc now has a printer on it. Epson stylus cx6400. So after installing the printer drives with the CD that came with the printer on both the ibook and the pc with the epson, I hook up the epson to the pc. I print a couple pages from the pc and perfect, no problem. Then I try to print a couple words from appleworks on the same epson that is connected to the pc and wtf?? It prints endless pages and pages and pages of weird symbols , slashes, numbers, apple trademarks, copyright signs and all these programmer type language. I tried letting it run and after about 40 pages I turned the printer off.
I added the printer correctly I am sure of it, but can anyone shed some light on this or am I going to have to call tech support fools
thanks

I'd delete that printer from your iBook, restart BOTH the iBook and the PC, and then reinstall the (networked) printer on the iBook. Be sure to select that the printer is on the network, not connected directly to your iBook. Of course the PC should have the printer properly shared, as well; a problem with that could prevent good printing from another computer on the network.
Also, make sure that if the PC is using a PostScript driver that the iBook does as well, and vice versa. Sending PostScript to a printer that's expecting PCL gets really interesting and wastes a lot of paper.

Thanks it works fine now.
What I did was delete all the epson programs from my ibook and deleted teh printer that was not in use under "printer preferences." Then I noticed that under "kind" in the printer setup window, it said "generic postscript prnter" so I went under there and looked for my printer brand "epson stylus cx6400" but it wasn't there so I just tried the closest one "epson stylus cs5300" or something like that and bingo it worked!
Thanks for your help! I really didn't have clue what postscript is.
