eep, help me out? So i installed my airport card, and came back to school. the little icon is up and has 3 rows lighted in black, and when i click on it, it shows these networks?:
AAA Fac
ATC
english1
linksys
Each one needs a password, except for linksys. so i click on that and it seems as if i'm using it, but when i detach my ethernet cable, i lose connection.
can anyone tell me what i need to do? ..i know my school has a base station ..somewhere

Unplug your ethernet connection, reboot, then try the wireless.

It may be that "LinkSys" has some security set up as well, either WEP or MAC address filtering. Why not check with your school and find out the SSID and WEP settings necessary to connect?

John's right. Go to the school's network managers and ask for the proper settings. You DON'T have to tell them you're using a Mac, since it seems like 90% of college network people can't actually say "Mac" properly, let alone understand how to connect one to a network. If you're supposed to have access to those wireless networks, they should give you the data you need to connect.
Once they get you that information, come back here and we'll help you plug it in to the right places in your computer to get it online.
