Greetings all! The Mac world is all new to me, but I will finally be getting one in a couple of weeks. I will be getting a new iMac and am very excited! But I wanted to give you experts what our current network setup is and make sure I know all I need to know (hopefully) beforehand.

Currently we have 3 pc computers, one being a work laptop, and one unix box on our home network. I will be replacing my pc with the new imac. The unix box is the firewall and everything goes out through it. We use cable for internet connection too if that matters.

Our router is a Linksys Wireless - G using 802.11g (which is probably a 'duh' but I just want to make sure I share all I know at this point in time to help make it clear!) My computer and the work laptop are both connected as wireless as my computer is upstairs.

From all the reading I've done on this matter, it sounds as though it should work out fine. I will of course be getting the imac with the airport extreme card installed. It's pretty important that (hopefully) nothing be changed as far as the router and such as my husband works from home through the laptop and I don't want him to have to change anything with it.

I guess my question is, does it sound like this should all work fine? Or am I being naive in thinking this way? He said if nothing else he'll just wire a cable up to my room through the walls and floor but I really don't want to do that LOL! Is there anything I need to know or anything else I need to get beforehand to make this smoother? Or should this work out pretty well?

If there is any other important info you need to know about the router or anything I can find out from him. He's a unix geek and pc, but neither of us have even touched a mac so we're really excited.

Thanks so much in advance!
