I have an iMac flat panel (700MHz) that has a screwed up ethernet port. MacOS X cannot store any values for it, it pauses forever, and needless to say, will not obtain an address manually or via DHCP.

We are looking for a simple USB to Ethernet product for the Mac. Problem is, all the ones out there seem to lack a Mac driver.

Anyone have one of these working in OS X?

Thanks!

Why not use a firewire port?

A friend at work bought a D-Link DWL-122 on sale for $29. He had it at work today and let me take it home to play with it.

I'm very impressed. You do have to install a driver (get it online because the one on the CD was older), but once installed this device worked great on my 12" Powerbook. The software was very nice too, fully configurable from a Preference Pane.

I don't know where he bought it on sales, but it's normally $49 and D-Link has a $10 mail-in rebate in effect right now, so it's just $39.
