Alright, soon I'm gonna be purchasing an all-in-one printer. What I'm wanting to do...is add this printer to my network wirelessly...so I can print from any one of my computers to it....when it's across the room.

I have a Windows XP machine, a Windows 98 machine, and a Powerbook running 10.2.8. I have my Router/Cable Modem/Wireless AP hooked up to the XP machine.

Now what I'm wondering...is once I get the printer...what all will I need, and what do I have to do to get this to work.

Thanks...

i'm not sure if such models are available in all-in-one setups, but if you buy a network printer, like the HP 2100TN, then it exists on the network as its own entity. hook it up via cables to the router/wireless point and all should be able to see it. i ran a similar setup with a 2100 and the clients on the wireless and wired networks alike had no problems printing to it.

(nb: the 2100 is _not_ an all-in-one, just an example of a network printer.)

Thanks for the input...I guess I'll clear it up a little. I'm not looking so much for a printer that has built in networking/wireless or what not (cause I know there's not many out there period)...I'm just buying an all-in-one printer. What I was wanting to know...is what equipment I'll need to get that printer working wirelessly.

The printer I'm looking at is the Epson CX6400.

Thanks...

I have an HP psc 1360 at home, and I just tried this with an AEBS. Works like a charm, so far. All of the programs on both my PowerBook and my partner's iBook recognized the printer. I don't know about scanning yet, I haven't installed the printer/scanner software on his iBook or tried it from my newly wireless PowerBook, but so far, so good.

Just hook the printer right into the base station, and you're set.

Just be aware that while printing will be available wirelessly, functions like scanning will not.

Yep. Seriously, just buy a separate printer and scanner and fax. The all-in-ones (since they have to put multiple gadgets on one interface) just don't play nice on networks -- only printing will work, if you're lucky.
