Has anyone successfully upgrade the firmware on their netgear router? In particular the fwag114?
I've downloaded the firmware file, but cannot uncompress it properly. It comes down as a .bin file. Stuffit says it isn't properly compressed or something to that effect, so then I thought that I can just upload the file as is to the router. The router didn't like it either.
What am I doing wrong? I've already emailed netgear tech support, but figured I would get a better and quicker answer here.
I even tried it on windoze with no luck.
Here is the link to the firmware upgrade in case you are interested or want to try it yourself: ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/fwag114_v1_0_21.bin
thanks in advance.

I think Netgear equipment has an import feature in their browser-based configuration. The trick should boil down to pointing the configuration to the correct downloaded file.

The firmware DOES NOT need to be uncompressed. It is ready to be uploaded, as is, to the router.

GH, that sounds similar to the LinkSys setup, but I found that to be quite browser dependent (or maybe Java dependent) and the MacTFTP application seemed to work much better.

I've upgraded a few Netgears with Safari, IE and Chimera. Haven't had any problems with that. I just use their Upgrade Firmware link.

That's good to hear. They must be less Java dependent than the LinkSys version. Either that, or it's just that I haven't tried upgrading a LinkSys through the web interface for a good long time.
