Ok, I have an eMac 800 and a D-Link router. I am trying to use websharing to host a small site over my cable modem. I have a no-ip.com ip forwarding service setup. However, when I go into the sharing control panel, the ip address that comes up is the one off of the internal router 192.168.0.101/~user, instead of the real ip and link. What is the url of my computer?

To host your website behind a broadband router you need to do one thing and gather a few bits of info.

First, get your external IP address by going to www.whatismyip.com.

Then find out your local IP address from the network control panel or by using ifconfig on the terminal.

After you have this info you need to forward port 80 on your router to your mac's internal IP address.

After you setup forwarding you can hit your website from anywhere by using your external IP address or by registering that address with no-ip.com.
