Is there a way I can get my wife's iBook to wirelessly talk to her HP 5510 deskjet printer/copier/fax that's about 15 feet away?

I tried to network the two things using a print server and the existing CAT5E wires in the walls, but apparently the Mac can only talk to a postscript printer via this method (the HP 5510 is not psotscript). I assume a wireless print server would be equally limited.

So I wondered if there was a relatively simple way for Mac to drive the printer wirelessly, just the two of them, without a network?

Thanks for any help.

Andrew,

I might suggest getting a wireless access point with a serial or parallel connection in it for your HP printer. I don't think you can do it completely "without a network". It's possible that a Bluetooth printer server might work, too, provided your Mac has Bluetooth or a BT adapter.
