I used to be able to automatically switch connections when I'm at the office (ethernet) and at home (airport). Suddenly I have to restart just to get a live connection whenever I switch locations. Any ideas what caused this? Thanks in advance.

Btw, I'm using 10.3.2 on a 17" Powerbook.

I don't have that exact problem, but have problems losing my Airport connection when my powerbook goes to sleep. I can't even pick the network from the airport menu (it gives me connection error). I'm also running 10.3.2 but on a 12" powerbook and this wasn't a problem until the last update. Oddly, my wife's iBook doesn't do this even thought she has the same system.

I found that logging out and then back in reconnects me. Try that instead of restarting and that may save you a couple of minutes.

Check your Sytem Preferences and see how Airport is set up. Make sure it's NOT set to join a specific Network (it seems to be broken on 10.3.2). Set it to Automatic.

I'm running 10.3.2 on a 15" powerbook and most of the time when it wakes up from sleep it reconnects, but occasionally it doesn't. I just turn off airport then turn it on and never have a problem. I never have to restart either if I plug a wired connection into my computer either.

I have airport set to connect to a specific network because I can pick up several wireless networks around my apartment complex and when I set it on automatic, it kept connecting to someone else's unprotected network.

It did it again this morning. Last Friday, I thought my problems were solved when I got home and my Airport connected to the network. It was fine too when I brought my Powerbook to another location with another wireless network. This morning when I got to the office, I plugged in the network jack and nothing. Location is set at automatic. I tried to log-out and still nothing at login. It was only after I restarted that the connection's going well again.

It seems like 10.3.2 damaged something in my Powerbook. There might be other applications causing all these problems but it's gonna take a while to wade through them. I might be forced to reinstall this weekend if the problem persists.
