Well, I'm on the spot here. I just bought my wife a brand new HP pavilion zd7000 laptop so that she could wirelessly surf the net with me. Only three days ago I got a brand new Direcway internet connection running through an Airport Extreme base station and into my marvelous 17 rev A PowerBook. Airport firmware version 5.2 and Panther 10.3.2. The PowerBook configured like a charm using the Airport Admin Utility but alas I have not been successful with my wifes brand new Windows XP laptop. I'm not looking to network the two laptops untill later but right now the pressure is on to get her on the net. I've been through the "Connection Wizard" on the HP Windows XP machine to no avail. The HP laptop has a built in 54g (802.11g) wireless card and the internet config for the PowerBook is using DHCP. I know I'm asking allot here but could someone step me through how to do this?
Thanks a bunch......

Didn't the HP see your wireless network right away? It should have been about as simple as connecting your PowerBook.

First, what have you tried? It is vaguely possible that the new HP has a problem, or some fairly simple setting just isn't set right.

Let us know what's going on right now, and we'll come up with some steps for you to follow.

Wow, my sincere apologies. The wireless card in the HP was turned off by default to conserve battery power. (DUH...)I activated it and now am surfing the net.

Thank you very much for your reply and concern. You guys (and gals) are a truly great bunch.

In internet explorer on PC, Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings
Ensure the Automaticly Detect Settings box is checked... Thats all I had to do for my PC to make it connect to the 'net
we don't have time to stop for gas
