When I click on "sharing" and the "firewall" tab, a drop-down pane says "Other firewall software is running on your computer. To change the apple firewall settings, turn off the other firewall software."

I've never installed any type of firewall software. This is weirding me out.

In Panther, use of any ipfw commands, so your ipfw filters don't match the OS X Firewall's predictions, results in this message.

Try "sudo ipfw flush" to clear it all out.
