When I try to Connect To Server (Cmd-K) on my 12 inch G4 to the Windows 2k Pro machines on my home network, I get a -36 error; similarly I get an error in the Terminal when using mount_smbfs and smbclient. What's odd is that I am still able to control both machines through VNC despite the -36 error.

Everything worked fine on previous installations of Jaguar, but the problem seemed to surface when I upgraded to Panther, and remained when I subsequently did a clean install of Jag. I'm at a loss to figure this one out...I'm running 10.2.8 on the PowerBook and am connected to the network via AirPort Extreme. I do have Brickhouse configured to block several websites and AIM messaging on the PB but this never seemed to be a problem with the previous OS installations. The two other machines are running Win2000 Pro with file sharing enabled, and all machines are connected via a Linksys BEFW11S4 router. One Windows machine is connected to the router through wireless and the other by Ethernet cable.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

You have to have a password in order to connect and make sure the Workgroup in the SMB box matches the 2k machine.
