Centrino rocks in my experience. Blows Apple away if you ask me, and I love my Powerbook. Apple has its work cut out for it if they want to compete. It will be years before they have something comparable to throw in Intel's face.

PowerPC 300 family. Should arrive 2005 or 2006. Then they have something that'll kick Intel's asses. Probably there will be a power saving PPC970?X in the meantime since it's supposed to be the basis for all three next-gen consoles (Playstation 3, GameCube, XBox 2).

To answer your question, the Centrino laptop will work just fine with an Airport base station.

Thank you. now are there any settings my friend would need for this in XP. Because he's not tech oriented.

Also, should I just recommend a cheaper Netgear router (in place of an Apple Airport BS) since its cheaper, and seems to do better than the BS?

I'm having problems and are thinking about getting a netgear too, to replace my airport 802.11g base station.

A Netgear router is fine, and cheap. Centrino is able to handle WPA, WEP, LEAP, etc so there shouldn't be a problem joining the vast majority of wireless networks.

Great, now if they would bring back modular bays so I can install another battery and get 6-8 hours battery time like my Centrino laptop that would be nice.

Depends on the brand, not all brands do a modular design. Very often, you can buy a backpack battery which increases the weight.
