While my desktop and router live upstairs, I want to move my Airport basestation downstairs for better reception with my wife's laptop. I am trying to find a bridge or adapter to take advantage of the home networking I have so that I can connect the basestation to a telephone outlet. It seems impossible to find an hpna-to-ethernet adapter. Where are they, if in fact they are anywhere? (Plenty of USB adapters on Ebay.) Is my only recourse to drill through floors and walls to run an ethernet cable downstairs? I hope not. Advice? Leads? Recommendations? Thanks.

You can run ethernet over cat4 cable if you want. You'll need a dedicated line just like with cat5. But if there is phon eline going were you need to go you can use that as your connection.

Hmmm. I am not sure what a cat4 cable is or how I connect my present equipment to it. (Picture me holding fistful of wires, a giant ? over my head.) I used to have an old iMac connected via usb adapter to phone line downstairs. That's the general area I want to place the ABS now. How best/easiest to connect it to my infrastructure is my dilemma. I enjoy reading, long walks on the beach--not pulling cable. But if I have to... Surely somewhere there is an hpna to ethernet adapter. Isn't there?

cat4 cable AKA phone line. You'll only get 10Mb max bit thats proably faster that the access point.
