sorry if this isn't the right forum but they don't seem to have a "Security" specific forum.
I have been getting emails that seem to be saying MY emails have been returned because they contain virusses. They are all from New York University, which I have not been emailing to, but I am on one of their mailing lists. All of the text and supposed attachments are clearly bogus and definitely not something I would have intentionally sent.
I am up to date on Virex defs and scanning and as far as I can remember from when I installed my network 4 years ago or so I am behind a hardware firewall. I have a DSL connection but a router stands between the DSL box and the network. My airport network requires a password. I also assiduously delete anything suspicious I get in email.
I have been assuming it's all part of some virus problem that THEY'RE having and that it's just an annoyance for me but could it actually be something on my end? What is possible here. I just want to confirm that I'm not ignoring some problem here.
