Okay, this is my first post. So hi.
I am looking into a Clie SJ37(I think thats the model name, it has a camera and wifi). I guess it doesnt really matter much. The point is, Im wanting a wifi network at home, desperately. What I need is a wifi router that will just WORK. My friend just got a wifi router for his computer, and he has had a hell of a time setting it up. (Then again, he is using XP). He cant figure out this special KEY he has to put in or all this other stuff, and he said he had to activate the hardware using a computer and such. Well, my plan is to JUST have the Clie as my main unit for everything, as I really have no need for a laptop anymore. I am going mobile. How hard is it to get a wifi network set up? I have a high speed DSL modem hooked up to my wall right? Is it as simple as connecting the wifi router to that modem and turning it on? I'm hoping it's that simple, so the Clie should just get the IP address and be connected. However, Im worried I will have troubles, some people say I need a base computer to be set up to have my wifi working. Which in all honesty, would be stupid, because I have NO desire for one. I simply wish to have a wifi network I can use with a Clie with built in wireless-B. Is this a simple setup? Thanks

Gibbert,
Setting up a wireless network with the Apple Base station is fairly easy. The Clie can be be linked to the network with minimal set-up. However, you have to have a computer to drive the system at least for now till someone comes up with a new type of computer-less wifi router.
Not sure why you are so not into having a computer, you can only do so much on the little Clie screen. Even with it linked up to a wi-fi network browsing the internet is somewhat limited. Besides the Macs are so cool. I have the Clie Wi-Fi card (which I found for $16) for my NX70, but it hardly gets used on my Airport network. The screen is just not big enough for serious internet surfing. If I had a T-Mobile Hot Spot account I'd probably use it at Starbucks. Plus now that I have my Powerbook with Airport Extreme thats what I mostly use for Wi-fi.
