This is something that may be trivial but I have been unable to find a solution to my problem so far.

I am trying to connect with a powerbook G4 with built-in airport to my ISP using PPPoE. Now, the access point is NOT an airport one but a CISCO aironet 350 series. As a result, there is no PPPoE tab or options available in the aiport configuration in the network preferences. I can establish a connection to the CISCO access point without any problem and in fact to the ISP by sharing the connection of a windows machine. This is something easy to do with XP pro: once you have a wireless connection to the access point, it is just a matter of setting up a new connection using PPPoE and to share it. I then get an IP using DHCP from the ISP. Clearly, the problem comes from the fact that PPPoE is absent from the airport client configuration. I would like to start the connection without having to use this other windows laptop.

Does anyone have a suggestion? Maybe PPPoE could be started from the prompt?

Thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly the 350 series will only bridge (I've only used 1200s before), which will require a router being added to your network configuration that can establish a PPPoE session. Reason being, from my experience, that you will not be able to establish multiple PPPoE connections with your DSL provider's PPP servers over the same DSL link. You can search Cisco's website for more information regarding the 350s, but I believe you are stuck at the moment. I could be wrong however as I don't have a whole lot of experience with their other AP models.

I am sure you're right. Having say that I can setup two PPPoE sessions using XP machines without using any additional router. Both connect to the Cisoc AP. XP seems to allow to setup a PPPoE session over any network link. For the moment the only way I can connect the OS X laptop is by sharing one of the window's session. It looks more to me as some limitation from the network setup of OS X (?)
