Is there any way to give a friend full access to my drives via FTP? As it is now I have someone log into their user account on my mac, and they can put stuff into my dropbox (and not see it after) or take stuff out of their dropbox. I remember with appletalk on os9 if you were in a network you could mount a drive on an external computer right on your desktop. Is there anyway to do something like this now? Either via appletalk or ftp, on a LAN or over the internet?

This can be done with the built-in ftpd server, but most people have had the easiest time using PureFTPd . It provides a pretty nice interface and fairly granular access controls from what I am told. Probably your best bet to get things going in a timely fashion from what I understand.
