So I recently installed Little Snitch on my computer for the hell of it. Earlier tonight it popped up with the following message:
"The application 'configd' wants to connect to <some IP address> on UDP port 67 (bootps)"

Can someone help out the dumb guy and tell me what this means? Here's what I know (as you can see it's very little, actually)

Configd - System configuration server
Port 67 - Bootstrap Protocol Server (BootP, bootps) that is used by NetBoot via DHCP

Uh yeah. Sooo why is it calling some external IP?

Was this to an address other than 255.255.255.255, which would be normal for DHCP discover? A DHCP renew request would be sent to a specific address (the DHCP server the initial lease was acquired from). You could determine who owns the address by running whois ip_address in Terminal.app. Perhaps this is what you are seeing.
