Someone on another board (PS2 Network Gaming) pointed this out:

http://www.asus.com/products/communi...0/overview.htm

And I bought one - they're quite funky - it can be a Wireless access point or act as an ethernet to wireless adapter.

It can only do 902.11b - not extreme, but still interesting, and relatively cheap.

I use mine to connect my PS2 to my Wireless net.

how weird, got this delivered today!!

have u managed to set up wpa encription though??

i cant get it to work [popped home at lunch for a mess about, back in the office at mo] rang Asus support and they dont know how to do it, even though description on their site reckons it can be done.

could go the wep route but think wpa is better?

ps how does it perform? was worried that 8011b might not be good enough in the room above my router [which is 8011g]

I didn't use WPA - because I also have an older Pismo that I need to have access to the net - and It only has old airport.

It seems to perform well - the PS2 is close to the Airport BaseStation - so it should do.

The only problem I had was that I had to use Virtual PC to configure it as the "web-based" config was nasty JavaScript that only MSIE would render (and only on windows.)

luckily, or not, i still have a pc, but that is connected wirefree so am strugglin to get set up at the mo without connecting the asos to an ethernet port.

tried by putting it direct into the router, but until i step down to wep i wont know how well it works.

fingers crossed i will soon by wirefree on my p2 as the 20 metre cable i have to run up the stairs at the mo is an eyesore!!
