I just got upgraded to 3mb cable service today up from 768k. When I go to do any speed test on any web site my iBook is slower than my PC running Windows 200o Pro.

With my PC I get 4080kbps from cnet.com speed test. With my iBook I get 2102kbps from cnet.com speed test. Why is my iBook almost 2000kbps slower?

I've cleared the cache before each test on both computers and still get the results showing my PC is faster.

Is there something I have to change in the Ethernet settings? When I do the test on my airport connection it drops to around 1000kbps also. Please help me.

Give Broadband Optimizer a try first. It usually helps users in a high-bandwidth environment (it did wonders for me in a LAN).

I've also noticed that Windows can be a tad faster when it comes to raw file transfer when compared to Mac OS X. I don't know why this is the case, though.

Most of the speed testers out there are Java programs, and are customized to work best in Windows. They are not dependable outside of windows in any way shape or form.
