Hi everyone I think I have srewed my SMB on my Mac (TiPB 1Ghz 10.3.3)
I had my XP box and my PB working great but I couldn't mount my FW drive that is connected to my PB onto the XP box. The FW harddrive had all my MP3s on which I wanted to copy to the XP box so it could be my Jukebox. So I started to tinker. Now it's all messed up. The PB and XP will not see eachother at all now.
I orginally did a search in this forum and found a link that showed you how to edit your smb.conf file so all volumes would be mountable using smb. Did that which didn't work for me. Then I found sharity which installed but when I want to edit a connection, nothing happens i.e. app trys to open but quits straight away.
I have installed 10.3.3 on the firewire drive just to see that the connection problem isn't hardware and I have screwed my networking and the PB and XP did connect off the FW. So it must be my smb settings.
I had the brainwave to copy the new smb.conf file from the fresh install on the FW harddrive to the 10.3.3 on the PB, but shairty has moved the smb.conf file and put an alias in it's place. I relinked the alisa to the smb.conf file I copied from the FW install but still nothing. I did an archive and instal on the PB still nothing!
I really need to mount the PB on the XP box for checking the website I'm doing. Besides a complete reformat, which I will cry cause I have everything set the way I like it, are there any other options?
ANY help would be great. Thanks for reading my post cause I am in over my head with networking
