Perhaps I mis-understand how this feature should work... I assumed that I would enter in a MAC addr (eg. for my Powerbook) and that addr would be stored indefinitely and always allowed to join the network.

What I'm seeing is that when I shut the PB off and restart, I must manually re-authorize it every time before I can connect, which seems like a rather half-baked feature.

On the PB side, before I do this, I see no signal strength for the network in question.

I am doing something wrong? I do not have any of the encryption turned on (yet).

This is sorta dampening my enthusiasm for this router.

Thanks,
Mike

It sounds to me like you do have encryption on. Are you asked for a password? Once you enter a MAC address to the list, it stays there. Of course you need to update (save) the settings for it to stick.

No password.

Heh, ok, I'll check about saving the settings. I obviously did 'apply' the address, as it was approved, and worked until the PB goes offline for sleep/shutdown. It just didn't seem to "stay" authorized for the next go-round.

I did some more experiments. I turned _on_ WPE. Now what I find is that when my PB goes to sleep, it loses its connection. When it wakes back up, I have to manually use the Airport menu to reconnect. This doesn't seem right to me. Should it be this way?
