I am tring to setup MS Outlook V8.2 on a mac running OS9.2. The problem I am experiencing seems to be DNS/WINS related, but being a PC person, I wouldn't know where to go to fix this problem. Here it is:

We have 6 macs in our design dept. Each one runs a copy of MS Outlook V8.2, except for two, which are experiencing the exact same problem, which is-

Outlook loads OK, and the setup dialog shows. It asks for the mail server name and mailbox name. It only works if I use the IP address of the mail server. Clicking checkname finds the mailbox and all seems to be OK. With the IP address set, I run Outlook from the desktop, and it fails saying "Network problems are preventing the connection to the mail server". If I look in the Outlook mail settings dialog, the IP address is now a name- the name of our mail server (Exchange V5.5). If I click Check Name, it does not find the mail server. If I put back the IP address of the mailserver in this
dialog, it works fine.

I had this same problem on a PC on a different subnet to that of the same mail server, and had to put the mail server's IP and machine name in the PC's LMHOSTS file, because DNS and/or WINS was not configured for that network.

It seems the same problem exists for the two macs above, but how do I fix the problem?

TIA.
