Just wanted to say I bought a MN-700 Wireless-G Base Station at Costco today for $39.99. I've wanted to put in another network access point to cover some dead areas in the yard but could never rationalize the cost of another Airport Base Station.

Took about 5 minutes to set up - hooked it into the LAN and it worked. I now have access to the internet from everywhere in the house and the yard.

Don't know how good of a router it is but as an access point to extend an existing WiFi network you sure can't beat the price!

My friend got the same router because it was so cheap and he was short on cash. Three days later it died on him and he took it back and got another one to replace it. This one lasted 5 days and he said the f it and got his money back and saved up and got a Linksys router and hasn't had any problems yet.

I was glad the he tested the MS wireless access point out for me, I was going to get one too until he called my up and asked if I could get his AP working again.

I bet they are really cheap now that Microsoft stopped making them. They said they did what they wanted to do in the wireless market so they just stopped making wirless routers/access points after that. What did MS do? Nothing. Apple started Wifi with the orginal Airport base station and cards, and now they started Airport Extreme or 802.11g 54mbps. MS never did anything all they did was make and sell crappy WiFi products to make a few bucks. I may still use Microsoft OS and Office products but I'm never touching any of their hardware after that learning experience.

I hope you have better luck with yours. Maybe my friend just got a few bad ones. Who knows?

One reason I got it was Costco's return policy which is basically 'bring it back we will give you your cash back'. Shoot they will give you your money back on an opened DVD if you accidentally grabbed a full screen rather than widescreen.

(an employee explained that they have a 'no questions asked' return arrangement with all their vendors so they lose nothing by taking returns)

That's nice. At least you can return it if something does go wrong.
