Hi, I was thinking is it possible in such a method?
I want to set up a file sharing system as a server, but also
a file back up system, maybe in the future I'll want it to be a server. In that way, I can do media on my iMac and at the same time I can use linux for some other stuff like programming.
Or is there any other new idea that I can get this thing done?

Take a look at that link and see if that would work for what you want.

No need for that.

Just use netatalk (which runs on Linux, and is usually included) to make the Linux box into a Mac file server.
