Now that the euphoria from a newly announced Apple product has died down, what's the verdict? I put my order in today. This will work perfect with my home stereo and wireless network setup.

I did order one. Even if it turns out that I can't use it as a bridge for my DVR or XBOX, I can still use AirTunes and want a portable base station for upcoming travels...

Spending cash on this pretty much seals the deal as far as not renewing .mac goes, though. Time to start transitioning to my ISP account, unless gmail is public by then.

I bet Apple will release some kind of remote pheripheral that somehow uses the USB port. If people plug these in near their stereos, they aren't going to have a printer nearby.

Poll needs an option: Didn't order one yet but will buy one as soon as they hit store shelves

I was in need of a prodct to extend my Grahite Airport base station's range upstairs.
I had hoped this would be the one.

Very disappointed since apple says:

"AirPort Express can extend the range only of an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express wireless network."

So I have an original Airport Station that's a lame duck. PO'd about this.

If only I hadn't noticed that three days after I bought the thing. It'll still be great in the dorm and on-the-go, but it won't do jack to give my living room the same four bars of connection as the upstairs bedroom when I'm back home, which was at least 1/3 my goal for it.

I guess eventually we'll upgrade that initial base station. Not that useful now, since I've got the only AE-equipped Mac in a five-Mac household. Can an old AirPort bs extend the network of a new one?

Nope, from what I read, it will only extend AirportExtreme Base Stations or other AirportExpress.

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed elsewhere in this forum.

Nifty product and I'm likely to get one, but I'll wait for the "reviews."

I'd like one just for the stereo streaming, the added range would be a benefit, I suppose, maybe not though, both the Extreme and Express would be in the same room...

All depends on the size of the room...
You might see an effect with rooms over 10,000 sqft

Yep, after I read that I bought a new Airport Extreme base station off ebay half the cost of what Apple sells it for.

My Netgear has worked fine but hey, this one will work better and be sexier.
