Hello.
I have a Power Mac G4 with a D-Link PCI NIC that I added for connection sharing. I have enabled Internet Sharing in the Sharing preference pane and have selected the option to share the connection coming from built-in ethernet through the PCI NIC. But when I hook my Cube into the PCI NIC, it does not detect an internet connection. Both machines are running OS X Panther v10.3.4
I have never done this before and am still somewhat of a n00b to networking, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Your problem could be either or both of two problems that just jump to mind. Unless your Cube has an autosensing NIC, you probably need to use a crossover cable to connect it to the PowerMac's PCI NIC. Also, you should have the Cube set to automatically obtain an IP address, since the default for Internet connection sharing is to provide a DHCP service to the shared device.
Give those two items a look and see if either (or both) helps you out.

How do I check to see that it is automatically set?
Right now, nothing appears in the network summary page. No IP address, no router address... nada.
Also, would the fact that I have FTP Access, Personal Web Sharing, Windows Sharing, and Personal File Sharing enabled on the Power Mac be hampering my attempts here?

Go to the System Preferences, and select Network. Choose the correct Network Port for the Cube's NIC, and choose Network Port Configurations. Now, from the Show pop up menu, select the TCP/IP options. Choose "Use DHCP" if it isn't already selected.
The features you're sharing from the PowerMac don't make a difference at this point, because DHCP address assignment is several steps earlier in the process than the client trying to use any of those features.
