So I'm bringing my trusty new G5 to school with me in the Fall, and I have a few questions.

-Will I be able to grab files from Windows users with ease? (Clicking Network shows all available computers in the dorm)

-How can I go about sharing my files with others, I really dont want keep everything in a public folder, or can I create aliases with certain permissions? What about sharepoint?

-What are some general security measures I should practice while at school?

1. Panther is far from perfect when it comes to file sharing with Windows computers, but it does the job. I've had better luck with Thursby's DAVE, but it is an added purchase.

2. Use SharePoints to configure what stuff to share. I still can't get the simplicity of share-level security (no username/password), but it helps a lot.

3. Enable the built-in firewall of Mac OS X, lock your screen when you're away, and... um, nothing much else!

I don't know if you were referring to MS's SharePoint in your original post, so if you were, the only close alternative I know available for the Mac is Xythos (It came out on Macintouch today).
