Get an old pentium 200 mhz machine for free. Install FreeBSD and netatalk and an old hard disk you have lieing around. Put it on your network and you got AFP 3.0 backup solution going! Works great for me! And at over 1 megabyte a second too. Total cost to me was FREE. Found computer with 40 gig hard disk thrown out on the street.

I did the same thing
P1 200, put in a 160 gig hd and it runs as a backup server for my parents now, using FreeBSD 5.1 I love tinkering.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
