So I got these nice new Firewire cables, and I was planing on transferring part of my network over to Firewire, as I really wanted the speed boost. I use a Blue G3 as a server/router anyway, so it was a very easy switch over. And it worked too. I could connect the computer to each other over firewire no problem. Well one problem. I tested many files, and the speed of the network is identical to the speed over ethernet. And I unplugged ethernet too so its not like I was using the wrong subnet and just didn't notice. For some reason, this firewire net was only running at 100 MBits/sec. I tried a bunch of cables, and no change. All 3 machines are running 10.3.4. I can't figure it out, there's no reason for it. It just runs super slow (relatively speaking) for absolutely no reason!
