Is it possible to use a Wireless Access Point (not a cheap Wireless Router) as a Bridge? I have a Netgear Wireless Router, MR814, and I'm wondering if I can use a Linksys WAP11 as a Wireless Ethernet Bridge to connect an ethernet only device to my wireless network. As I understand it, the 'dedicated' access point devices have many more features than the simple Wireless routers, which are a simplified access point, and a networking switch, combined. If I could use a WAP11 to link to my MR814, I'd be very HAPPY.

If I'm not mistaken, I think you may need to get a WAP from the same vendor as I don't think there's an official standard for wireless bridging. This means that one vendor's implementation of bridging may be different than the other's. This seems to be the case with Apple's version of the Wireless Distribution System (WDS), which only works with a handful of other 3rd party WAPs (Buffalo gear is reported to work).

I think the device you want is either a LinkSys WET11 or a WET54G depending on whether you are using 802.11b or g.
