Hi all,

I just moved into a new apt. in the DC suburbs and I am sharing a wireless network with my 2 roomies. I am having problems connecting to our wireless network. I can see the name of our network in the pull down menu, but when I select it, I get no reception at all and everything gets grayed out. My roomies Dell laptop works in my room as did the previous tenant's PC desktop, but I get nada. I have an Aiport extreme card in my eMac.

If I can see the name of the network, then the computer recognizes it, right?

Our connection is through Cox and the wireless router is made by Netgear.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Is the network using WEP encryption?

For my wireless served from family pc i had to log in using a password
this is a Belkin router and logged in using IBook with airport card.
Check for login and password. I just called Belkin and they talked me through
i could not find it in the documentation. I also bought a usb card to connect and
connected to my G4 and it connected fine.

Nope, no password or anything like that.

may be obvious ideas, but...

plug the emac into the modem (cable? or dsl?) and see if you can get online; then you'll know for sure where the problem is.

try moving the emac closer to the router; anything?

be sure the network wasn't setup with a password...

check network settings, try using internet connect to setup.
