I received my Airport Express this morning. I bought it primarily to connect to my living room stereo. I'm using a Netgear 802.11b router, a PowerBook G4 and a G4 iMac. It took longer to install the new Airport 4.0 software than to do anything else. I added the MAC address of the Airport Ex to my allowed devices on the Netgear router and then ran the setup assistant. It asks if you wish to create a new or join an existing network. I picked join existing and then selected my network in a menu and entered my WEP key. That's it! It works as advertized and allows you to listen to shared playlists over Airtunes. I share my music library on my iMac and then use the PowerBook to control everything. It kind of makes the PowerBook one big, expensive remote. I have another one on order for the bedroom.

Guess the mods are going to have a lock-a-rama with all the "I got my Airport Express and it works" threads.

I have almost the same setup as you. (but without the G4) Is your Express part of the Netgear network, or does it show up as a separate wireless device?

Maybe you can clear something up for me about airport express. I have my DSL line connected to a Netgear MR814 wireless router, from there my G4 is connected to the router with an ethernet cable. I access the network on my iBook with an airport card. I wanted to get an airport express mostly to stream music to my stereo, but then I read this on XLR8yourmac:
"I called Apple Support and learned that without a wireless card in my G4 1.25GHz (MDD) desktop iTunes 4.6 would not stream music to the Airport Express. "
It sounds like you're doing exactly what I want to do. Does ANYONE know if my existing setup will work with an airport express or does the hardwired G4 also have to have a wireless card installed. I'm so confused!!!
Thanks......
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
