I, in fact, have an Apple wireless card in my iBook. I should install the SW update in the iBook, but not the eMac? What is the reasoning behind that? I assumed the update was for the station itself.

It is also the software on OSX that it updates. So yes, install it on the iBook. It really doesn't matter if you install it on a computer that isn't using Airport anyway as it will just ignore the installed software.
