For some reason, my networked computers are not showing up on the Network Finder. There are two PC's and a Mac, all with the same workgroup name. Shouldn't they be listed in the Finder since they are on the same local network?

I'm able to connect to the other two PC's using connect to server, but that's a bit tedious since it should be listed automatically if those computers are on the same workgroup right? I know on the Windows PC that the networked computers show up on My Network Places as long as the computers are on.

Also, I think the networked PC's showed up on the Network Finder before but now I can't seem to get it to do this again.

File sharing and Windows sharing are on.

Please help.

Thanks in advance,
Phil

I don't have a good solution, but (for me) networking has been extremely quirky in Panther. Sometimes these drives show up, and sometimes they don't. It seems to help if I clear out all my system caches (I used OnyX) but after a while, the problem comes back.

It's a little bit odd, yes. Every once in a while a few of my computers disappear from the network browser. Guess there are STILL some kinks to work out in Finder networking - I'm starting to wonder if it will ever be fixed. It seems like they have maybe 1 programmer who spends a few hours on it every couple of months.

It's just sad because OS X should be easy and intuitive to see the other computers on the network, whereas Windows does a great job of this.

Even sadder because it worked in Jaguar, then was broken in Panther. With every Panther update I keep hoping it's been fixed, but it hasn't.
