hi, when i am in office, i need to use the special automatic proxy config. file (.pac) to log in the office 's LAN, but when i activated the automatic proxy setting, i can't access the
internet through the network. what should i do ? actually, if i check the web proxy, security
proxy,... in the network preference panel, and uncheck the automatic proxy configuration, then internet access available again in my office 's LAN, so is the automatic proxy config fail to work? or what happen?
thanks

Yep I am having the same problem. Put in the URL for the auto proxy at work, and in Safari I seem to be getting the "access denied" page that work has setup if you try to surf the net when you haven't got authorisation to do so (I need to put in username and password to access external sites).

But it works fine in Netscape: I get the password prompt screen, entered my username and password, and I am surfing the web no problems. In Safari it doesn't prompt me to enter a password ... I think it may be defaulting to my dialup password?

Does anyone know how I can change the settings so the password prompt comes up in Safari? I've checked the keychain and there doesn't seem to be anything there for Safari.

Is it a necessity that you need to use Safari? I just end up using Netscape as I have no idea how to get it working in Safari!

You might want to try Firefox (www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/). I like it better than Netscape and is probably more similar to Safari aesthetically.

It probably won't solve your problem with one of the websites not loading properly as Firefox is based on Mozilla which I think Netscape is also based upon.
