I recently replaced my old Compaq notebook(win98) with a new Dell Inspiron with XP and have not been able to get the Linksys wireless card to connect. It worked fine with my old Presario...what gives? My base station is a Mac and has never given me any problem. My linksys card is a 2.4 GHz (54g) Notebook adapter. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I really don't know what more I can tell you but that I tried to install the card by simply allowing the machine to discover the card and install the necessary driver. Well that didn't work. So I tried to install the driver from the linksys disk (the way I did it on my Compaq), but that was futile as well. I am primarily a mac person and find most of my work with pcs very frustrating. This newest endeaver is for my daughter who wishes to be part of my well running 3 machine network. My wireless router is a WRT54G. the network consist my my Mac, my son's HP (hardwired, didn't want to buy a wireless card for a desktop) and hopefully my daughter Dell notebook Inspiron 1000. The card I am using is a wireless -G notebook adapter.

Confirm whether or not the card is actually installed by using the appropriate Control Panel. You might have a hardware conflict (indicated by an exclamation point).
