did apple stop selling/making these? i know there's airport extreme out there, but there are still a bunch of machines that can't use the new extreme cards. so the only choice is a used card on ebay?

if you can point me in the right direction, i would be grateful.
as ever,
sonny

Apple have just decided a few weeks ago that airport cards are now service parts (this also means the prices have been hiked close to double their previous price). You'll have to get a store to order it in for you, or call your local Apple service centre and have them order it if they don't have any stock.

Cheers.

well, that sucks really. it's not like you have an option to put in another companies card or even the current card sold. now i gotta take it in to be 'serviced' to get an airport card.

ah, well...

No, you don't have to take it in. ANY Apple-authorized service provider can order and just sell to you any service part.

That said, regular AirPort cards are still widely available in retail and on eBay, and as older Macs get taken out of service, their AirPort cards will become available as well. I don't believe they will ever become rare or expensive.

$100+ on eBay... although my university does have a number of them for sale at the same price they've been since Airport Extreme was announced - $79. Not that bad, but it's still too expensive. And I don't really need one.
