I've got a really basic question ... I've got a DSL connection that I'd like to turn wireless. I'm looking at a couple of different wireless routers. Do I need to purchase one that is specifically a Cable/DSL wireless router or will a regular old wireless router work just fine? In general, what makes a Cable/DSL wireless router different from a regular wireless router?
Thanks for the help.

Honestly, I think it's marketing. But I could be wrong. (Sorry for the non answer.)

I could be wrong too but:
-"Cable/DSL Wireless Router" acts like your normal DSL-router (and wireless router for you LAN) so you can get rid of your existing DSL-router.
-"Normal Wireless Router" is just router that connects to your existing DSL-router providing wireless link for you LAN.

I have the latter and it only shares my DSL-connection to my two wireless macs.

A router is a router, period. This goes for wired or wireless. If it doesn't "route", then it's an access point. Routers can be configured to act as an access point, but access points can not do routing. "Cable/DSL" is just a phrase to attract consumers.

Yep.

Combination cable modem+router and DSL modem+router boxes exist (primarily in North America and Europe, respectively), but they're rarer than just routers.
