I run Windows ME on my PC and have gone to My Network Places and set it up as Mac Help told me to. I went through and put in a password, workgroup, compuer name and description. But after I clicked OK the computer restarted and I didn't get to do anything else Mac Help told me to do. Do I need to disable the Internet Connection Firewall to share between computers in the same network?

I have seen the computer (PC) on my network (on the Mac) before, but I could never access it.

When I would shut down the PC, it said that the Mac was connected to the PC and if I would continue to shut down, it would disconnect this computer. That's funny, the Mac said it couldn't access it.

I have turned on Windows File Sharing on the Mac. I'm trying to get my My Documents folder which has all my Word documents and homework.

I run an 802.11b network (D-Link DI614+ Rev. A) and even if there there is another way, I would like to know how to network a Mac and a PC for future reference so thanks for all your help If you need any information please feel free to ask.

well ok, i just went back to Network in finder and I see the computer as:
Finder->Network->MSHOME->GEORGESUN

GEORGESUN is a grey globe icon, same as the network.

I click it and SMB Mount pops up and asks me to SELECT A SHARE (D or MYDOCUMENTS), I pick MyDocuments and type in:
WORKGROUP: MSHOME
USERNAME: GEORGESUN
PASSWORD: ******
and I connected. actually I didn't know I connected and tried again, but I went back to finder and saw MYDOCUMENTS so I guess I did something right.

Win ME (a BAD compromise between Windows 98 functionality and NT security) won't do anything with a shared resource until after it restarts-usually it needs to fully reboot. Once it restarted, your ME machine was visible to the Finder via SMB, so it 'found' it.

Very smart, these Macs...
