I have a Netgear wireless router. My layout is now a simple one. The router is the main router connected to the internet. Both this G5 and my server are behind the router. The G5 is set up as the DMZ host, and all the important server ports, like mail and web server, are mapped to the server. Now from the internet, you can type one of my domain addresses and get to my server no problem. But from behind the network, if I type my site address, I get a "could not connect to server" error. I don't get why it doesn't get mapped all the way to the server? Its like it just gets stopped half way there. I know this setup has worked for other people, so how come it doesn't work for me?

So from behind my network, no machines know where my router's external IP is. That seems very wrong to me?

That is normally the case with consumer grade routers. They do not normally support "loop-back". Unless you have a commercial grade router, you will have to use the local IP address of your server to connect to it from within your LAN.

That is a problem because I use name based virtual hosts. And for my iBook, I have about 15 email accounts, i'd have to edit the mail server every time i left my house, or came back home. But I just bought a linksys wired router and it seems to support it fine. So I should be all set. If the linksys doesn't work, I'm just goona go back to a computer router.
