I'm hoping someone in here can help me with my problem.
We have a small network of 7 Macs running 10.3. We save our finished projects on a spare G4 with an external 160 gig drive. It works great except when we have to restart any computer.
When we restart, it automatically brings up a dialog box asking us to enter our user name and passsword to get back on. The problem is, is that it also brings up the spinning beachball and won't let us type anything into the fields. You cannot get to the finder either.
The only way we've found to fix this is to pop out the ethernet cable and force quit the finder. When it comes back up, we are able to reconnect the ethernet cord and then connect to the G4 like nothing happened.
It's very annoying. The guy in charge of making this all work doesn't seem interested in solving the problem so I figured I would give it a shot. Networking (especially OS X networking) is far from my area of expertise so I thought I would start by probing the experts. Any ideas?
