From my iBook I usually connect to my desktop G4 via afp://10.0.1.3 in the Connect To Server window from the Finder. Today I shut the desktop machine down while the iBook still had one of the desktop volumes mounted. When I returned to the iBook the Finder was stuck at the spinning beach ball, even a Finder relaunch didn't help. So I powered it down and left for the day. Came home, booted up the desktop machine and then the iBook. When I tried to connect to the G4 from the iBook I got this:
Connection Failed
This file server is running on your machine. Please access the volumes and files locally.
The volumes are not mounted at all...it's as if the OS still thinks they are mounted, but they're not. It seems I need to "flush" any traces of the prior connection, but I'm not sure how. Any ideas? TIA.
