My D-Link DI-614+ wireless configuration page shows that I can choose a channel or select "Auto Scan". I tried it but was unable to get my iBook to connect. It works fine if I choose a channel. I can find no info on this on the D-Link support site. All their documentation is out of date. Does anyone know what "auto scan" is?

This is purely speculation, but I imagine it works in the same way as for cordless phone, i.e., the router scans the range of channels and picks one that has the least interference.

If you have a lot of problems with your wireless connection dropping, it may actually be better to select the channel yourself.

I posted a link to the manual for your D-Link in this thread. It should tell you everything you want to know, and then some!

Actually, there's nothing in the manual about auto-scanning channels. Do you have a screenshot of the configuration page?
